CRPIM
Center for Research & Promotion of Indian Music

This is an ambitious project that I am working on for the promotion of Indian Music in various parts of the world.

The Center for Research & Promotion of Indian Music, CRPIM, has been formed with the objective of promoting and preserving Indian music by imbibing a corporate culture, so that its activities, including fund raising, are well organised and managed professionally.

At the heart of the matter is the fact that we have stopped recognising the richness and importance of Indian music because of the influence of Western culture, including music. This so called Pop music culture has a very short shelf life and does nothing for the soul, whereas Indian music lives on in our hearts and memories.

Also more and more foreigners are gradually orienting towards Indian music, literature and theatre and have already started realizing the scientific basis, the spirituality, peace of mind and cultural essence of the social order in various form of Indian Art, predominantly in Indian Music.

Does it not sound ironical?

To overcome this, the need of the hour is an Institution that synchronizes and professionalizes the entire system with regard to Indian Music. And CRPIM has taken on the task of making the world realize the true values imbibed in Indian music, a concentrated effort of which is lacking at the moment.

The Center has begun its mission towards achieving its objective of pursuing, researching and promoting pure Indian music domestically as well as internationally.

The Center has been in existence since last five decades. It started its journey in the name of Saraswati Sangeet Vidyalaya way back in 1950 from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The Saraswati Sangeet Vidyalaya was founded by Pandit Vishwanath Bhalchandra Tagde in 1932; later his son Shri Sharadchandra Tagde continued the tradition of his father.  Saraswati Sangeet Vidyalaya was a joint effort of all musical luminaries of that time including Smt Hirabai Badodekar, Gangubai Hangul, Ustad Babu Khan Binwale, Ustad Rajjab Ali Khan, Ustad Ahmadjaan Thirkava etc. Since then it has been a journey of dedication and commitment to Indian music.

Later the inauguration of the expansion of the Institution happened at the hands by the legendary vocalist and Bharat Ratna Sushri Lata Mangeshkar.

All our efforts have been directed towards creating awareness and promotion of Indian music through organizing events, conducting music educational classes, conducting seminars etc.

The people behind the Center have been deeply associated with Indian classical music, some of them being

     Pandit Ravi shankar

§         Bharat Ratna Bismillah Khan

§         Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia

§         Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma

§         Ustad Zakir Hussain

§         Pandit Bhimsen Joshi etc.

The Center has a fundamentally strong background and so can pursue the cause for which the Center has been formed without dithering from its path. The Center is being managed by the following team of dedicated Office Bearers:

§         Shri Sharad Chandra Tagde

§         Smt Leena Tambawekar

§         Shri Ratish Tagde

§         Shri Mahesh Tagde

The Center’s unique vision requires dedicated efforts and commitment so that the objectives can be achieved and we welcome you to join us in this mission.
